Tasting Profile: Intense ruby colour with violet notes. Aromas of fresh red fruits stand out with a floral presence, perfectly harmonised with the contribution of aromas of spices, cocoa and vanilla given its ageing in oak providing complexity. The palate, is soft with sweet and velvety tannins and a long after taste.

Food Pairing: Seafood, Salads, Spicy Dishes/Cuisne & Pork. Also, delicious on its own.

Serving: Serve at 16–18°C; in warm weather, 20 minutes in the fridge before pouring gets it there.

In November 2025, Forbes ranked Finca Sophenia No. 23 in “The World’s 50 Best Wineries 2025” (compiled by Virgin Wines). That puts it among the five highest-placed Argentine wineries, alongside world names such as Penfolds, Château Smith Haut Lafitte and M. Chapoutier. The ranking looks at family heritage, independent ownership, sustainability, consistent quality and wine tourism.

About Finca Sophenia

Founded in 1998 by Roberto Luka (a former president of Wines of Argentina), Finca Sophenia was one of the first wineries to plant vines in Gualtallary, then untouched land at about 1,200 metres in the northern Uco Valley, Mendoza. Today Gualtallary is one of Argentina’s most prestigious terroirs. The 130-hectare estate grows every grape it bottles on stony, calcareous soils with only 300 to 350 mm of rain a year and big swings between hot days and cold Andean nights. That gives fresh wines with natural acidity, firm tannins and a mineral edge. Since 2020 Sophenia has become the largest certified-organic estate in Gualtallary, and its wines are sold in more than 25 countries. The name blends Sophia and Eugenia. Eugenia Luka, the founder’s daughter, now leads the new generation alongside winemaker Joaquín Martín.
