Eikendal Charisma

The Charisma 2020 is an ingenious creation and red blend living up to its name.

A blend of: 67% Shiraz, 32% Petit Verdot and 1%Sangiovese

The Shiraz (Rhône Valley) lends a tight, fresh structure with aromatic and seasoned undertones. Petit Verdot (Bordeaux) contributes a rich berry character and the Sangiovese, in true Italian style, adds fruity flavours with flair on the palate.

The result is a bold, charming, seductive and ultimately elegant wine.

Remarks: All three cultivars are handpicked and cooled down. Only destemmed and not crushed. 10–15 day cold soaking before spontaneous fermentation. Shiraz: one pump over per day. Petit Verdot: two punch downs per day and Sangiovese: one walk through per day. After fermentation the wine is allowed to settle clean. Shiraz, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot go into 500ℓ old Burgundian barrels. 

Wine is aged for 10 months before blending and bottling.

Eikendal Classique

The Eikendal Classique 2019 is subtly rich and powerful with: full perfume flavours of blue and black fruits, earthiness and Cellar Master Nico Grobler’s signature freshness.
It shows, perfectly delineated: red and black fruit, seductive oak spice, fresh acidity and fine tannins due to careful extraction and the judicious use of oak.

A blend of: 58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot

Remarks: The Stellenbosch vineyards that were planted in: 2003 (Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 46 and 163, Merlot Clone 192 and Cabernet Franc Clone 1) are some of the oldest vineyards on the estate; and grow on the south-eastern slopes of our estate.

Each grape variety, was: handpicked and vinified separately. The grapes were sorted into: the cellar, and only destemmed and not crushed. It underwent long and slow cold soakings of between 10 and 15 days before spontaneous fermentation in small, stainless-steel tanks with one to two punch-down by hand each day. The wine was separately aged for: 12 months in custom-made 300ℓ French Oak barrels.

The wines were then blended and Oaked, for: another six months – before being bottled; and kept for another 12 months before release

Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is, true to: Eikendal’s Signature Style, sophisticated and full-bodied. Whiffs of ripe berries, dark chocolate, spices and pencil shavings greet you on the nose. On the palate, silky tannins await, complemented by a fruitiness and delicate oak flavours with: a lingering aftertaste

Suggested Food Pairings: Excellent on its own, or served with: Beef & Veal, Lasagna, Hearty Pastas and various meat cuts 
Remarks: The grapes were hand-picked and cooled down to 1ÅãC before entering the cellar where it was destemmed and not crushed. Ten to fifteen days of cold soaking followed before spontaneous fermentation with one or two punch downs per day. A long, slow fermentation at: 34C followed with: soft pressing. The wine settled, for one to two weeks before going to barrel. The wine was then aged for: 12 months in: 300ℓ 30% new Burgundian Pierre du Bourgogne Oak Barrels.

The wine was oaked, six months less than usual – but spent six months more, in: bottle.
