Product Description

The name “Matua” means “head of the family” in New Zealand’s native Maori language, which is appropriate given that the winery made the country’s first Sauvignon Blanc back in 1974.

The winery was originally founded in a modest tin shed by two brothers, Bill and Ross Spence, who had a vision to make New Zealand wine that could compete on the global wine scene.

They are now recognised as one of the country’s premier producer, with a wide range of award-winning wines.

Matua’s philosophy is to make wine from the best grapes from the best vineyards in New Zealand, letting the quality, fruit character, freshness and purity shine through every glass.
