Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc

Intense aromas of tropical fruit with prominent granadilla and pineapple. Zesty and flinty on the palate with the ever-present herbaceous character from Sauvignon Blanc

Country: South Africa
Region: Stellenbosch
ABV: 13.5% vol
Suggested Food Pairings: Excellent on its own, or served with barbecued meat, veal, poultry, pasta and red meat dishes
Remarks: The grapes were sourced primarily from: Stellenbosch, with some parcels from Darling, Durbanville, Elim and Koekenaap on the West Coast. The common denominator is that all vineyards are found within 15km from the ocean and thus the cooling sea breezes are the common denominator. The 2022 vintage will be remembered for the very late start and very cool growing conditions. This was perfect for our Sauvignon blanc vineyards.

Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Chardonnay

Delicate and fresh with notes of zesty lemon and juicy ripe white peaches. Finishes crisp with lingering mouthcoating fruitiness.

Country: South Africa
Region: Stellenbosch
ABV: 13.5% vol
Suggested Food Pairings: Excellent on its own, or served with barbecued meat, veal, poultry, pasta and red meat dishes
Remarks: Very cold and wet winter in 2021 (perfect for Chardonnay) ensured even budding for the Chardonnays and a normal size crop compared to the previous years. Moderate summer days with cold evenings was the perfect setting for a great 2022 harvest. The higher altitude Stellenbosch vineyards that face False Bay contributed texture and fruit, while the Robertson and Bonnievale vineyards generally contribute more minerality owing to the limestone-based soils.

Remarks: A very elegant and easy drinking expression of Pinotage, the aroma reminds of mulberries and ripe plums, nuanced with a smoky undertone. The wine shows a lot of juicy red fruit on the palate with subtle floral and fynbos notes on the finish. An elegant and supple tannin structure will allow the wine to mature well over the next 5 years. This wine is delightful on its own but can be successfully paired with the quintessential smoky South African braaied meats as well as their vegetable alternatives, or even an aromatic curry
