The music on the front label is a beautiful choral piece composed for my grandmother by the renowned South African composer, PeterKlatzow. Of course, you first have to start with the right vineyards. Our Music Room Cabernet hails from three distinct vineyard blocks. The resultant combined aromas and flavours of these spectacularly positioned vineyards are expressed in the final blend as complex, ripe, summer fruits like strawberry, cherry, and black-ripe youngberry.

The bitter chocolate notes and hint of vanilla come from the barrels we use which are hand-coopered to our exacting specifications in a variety of small, family-owned cooperages in Bordeaux and Napa Valley. The tannins are almost creamy in texture. This is directly the result of our ancient, manual practice of gently hand-plunging the fermenting cap down.

Flagstone Music Room Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep purple South African wine – summer fruit, cassis and hint of basil all wrapped in warm toasty oak. The palate has soft, persistant tannins to complement the concentrated flavours of dark berry fruits and wild mint.

The growing season was characterised by cooler nights and warm, drier days. This great variation between day and night temperatures during the ripening stage, led to good colour and flavour formation, which are indicative of remarkable quality wines. In most regions, harvest commenced on time. In general, the warm, dry weather resulted in smaller berries with good intensity and very healthy vineyards with limited occurrence of pests, disease and rot.
